Once upon a time the Diva had insurance with these people. When my husband had knee surgery they took their time about paying....even after I had paid all of our costs. During one of my many conversations with them, I discovered that their processing center was in Hurst Texas, right down the road from where I lived. I showed up on their doorstep and was advised by the 'person' at the desk in the lobby that no one was allowed 'upstairs'.

When I 'advised' her that the next phone call would be her calling 911, she called and a 'supervisor' came to speak with me (in the lobby of course). My bills were paid with in a week.

See, its easy to get an insurance company to cooperate.... BTW I cancelled the policy AFTER they paid up.

As a matter of fact my husband and I are so disillusioned with the health care industry that we took a 'certain sum of money' opened up a separate investment account strictly for health care costs and now have over a 'huge certain sum' of US Dollars and growing every day money to make sure we can have health care. Now if we can just find a hospital that will let us in knowing we can pay cash.....

I refuse to throw money at any company that raises premiums every six months after the first year, ties raises to age group and zip code without taking into consideration my excellent health, non smoking, low blood pressure and cholesterol; and has customer service agents that tell me my doctor needs to prescribe a different medicine if I want the insurance company to pay for it.

Hello Diva,

I am VERY happy to here that you are no longer "insured" by Mega Life & Health. Your idea of setting money aside to pay for future medical expenses is very progressive. You seem very well informed about the health insurance industry (unfortunately through baptism by fire). However, if you are not familiar with the tax benefits you can experience by putting that money that you have already set aside into a tax deferred interest bearing H.S.A. (Health Savings Account) please check out the lucrative benefits available to those who have an H.S.A. qualified H.D.H.P. (High Deductible Health Plan) here: http://www.sbisvcs.com/HSA%20&%20HDHP.html

If you have any questions at any time please let me know. Have a great day and thank you very much for your comments. :o)
