I am considering starting a live online auction site similar to www.bidz.com but more than just jewelry. I am just looking for feedback as to whether people think this would be a good idea or if you think the market is saturated.

If you are passionate about something and would enjoy it, I would say GO FOR IT!!! Look how many perfumes and colognes there are in the world? Look how many TV channels and programs we have....each show seems to have it's group of fans and supporters. When you go shopping, do you see all the different cereal boxes in the aisle? Do you grab Capt'n Crunch or Fruit Loops? See where I am going with this? If you are creative, unique and your heart is into something, it will show. Good Luck!

I say go for it if you have the budget. Auction sites that have the industry standard functionality cost anywhere from $200k to $2 millon do develop not to mention the on going costs of hardware, bandwidth, support, marketing, etc. you get the point.

Sorry to be negative, but there are a ton of auction sites. Do you have the budget and marketing savvy to compete with the established auction sites?

What makes you different...better...to attract the public. What is your niche?

Hello to all! The view of Ms designer is mine too! ''It'll given to you as you believe!'' (Gospel) ''Don't let any one destroy your dreams! '' ''See bigger and you'll be big! ''

Now what I can say is:
Start with professionals: designer, marketing coach or adviser or consultant.
Start small with a big plan for the future.
Start in your community: borrow, city, state and go step by step: it's more sure.

Visit personally people you want them to sell on your web site. Advertise your business door by door.
Before visiting them, let them know ...you're going to bring something to their family to help them earn much money; they will open their door to you and will propose you a cup of coffee! Important: arrange yourself to see the wife and the husband together and encourage them to explain themselves specially the lady! and ...GO AHEAD!

Don't worry about the market being saturated. Just think about all the fast food chains right across the street from each other in every town in the country. With dedicated work - you'll find your loyal supporters out there among the masses too!

Cheers!
