I have a reclaimed hardwood floor business (http://www.newlifehardwoodfloors.com/) that has just begun to have a web presence. Obviously, this is a "Green" product for the home building and remodeling industry. Ideally, other "Green" related products, services or businesses would be complimentary but what I am proposing is not limited to this category.

In talking to my SEO consultant, Web 2.0 is what is working now.

Part of that strategy is to use social networking sites such as Squidoo and others to post comments about sites you like and therefore drive traffic to them. By combining efforts, a group can post favorable reviews or comments about sites they find of value which results in helping each other drive traffic to the individual sites and points search engines to the site, therefore raising the search ranking.

I am interested in doing this with other sites and was wondering if anyone would like to explore this with me. There is some time commitment involved, but not excessive amounts.

Please let me know if this is of interest to any of you.

Thanks,
Pat Hicks

Hello Pat,

If I can give you an advise, I will also try to find forums in your topic or directories niche. Forums will allow you to talk deeperabout your subject, place a link signature on each post, not only good for search engines but also for traffic and potential customers.

Hope to help, good luck

Yes your consultant is correct. This is just one of many ways to SEO your website. Once I decide on which hosting company Im going to use for my real estate inginvesting site, I will be glad to swap links with you and "explore" the other ways of driving traffic to our sites. I am think of going "green" on a house that I am rehabbing right now as well..

In addition to SEO I presume you are focusing on local contacts. One avenue to consider are building related not for porfit organizations. I am on the BOD of my local Habitat for Humanity affiliate and we often work with local business with in the building industry. The cool synergy is that our web site refers to our partners. We are starting to explore linking to those partners via banner adds to take on a more e-commerce feel.

I would also explore if your product works with Earth Craft certification and leverage any related forums on that subject. We are just became Earth Craft certified and are currently building homes to meet those standards.

Thanks to everyone as all the suggestions are good ones. I checked out the Earthcraft site and am now hunting for forums on which to post. Please let me know how I can post for you and I suppose we will all do likewise for each other. If anyone has any other suggestions to leverage this angle, please let me know.

Yes I've got a suggestion for you ;-)

If I can help you more with a link, submit your site on my directories http://www.westcoastdirectory.com/ and http://www.roadrunnerdirectory.com/ I will list you for free (at the end of your submission don't pay for the link, that will record the data automatically).
