Well, this is the third time I send this message and I hope the forum let it go through. My last two post din t go through and I have no idea why. I sent another regular question and it went through. It s kind of weird.
Anyway,my name is Thanh Nguyen. I m openning a business in downtown Reno. WE have a great location and we bought most of the furniture and equipments. We have some cash in the bank but we do need a loan to get the place up and going . I have the architect working on the drawings now and I already had the lisence, tax paperwork, employees paperwork,etc.....The business is expected to be open by July 1st, 2008. We offer a new drinks to Reno, Nevada. It s tapioca drinks . It s pretty popular in California and expanding to other states pretty fast. We also offer home cooking Vietnamese sanwiches, finger foods ( chicken wings, shirmp balls, french fries, onion rings....). The store locates next to Unversity of Nevada and infront of the university s soronities houses. It s right by the entrance of downtown Reno. So It s a wonderful location with great potential. We need a 50000.00 loan to help building the kitchen. It s a big store and the money we have isn t enough to cover everything.
My family has the same drink store back in Vietnam and it has always been successful. I really want to bring my mom s great recipe into my shop and make my dream store comes true. I already have very close to enough to get the place opened. I just need a little help to get the kitchen built the way i want it. Base on the fact that I m pretty young , I don t know where to start and who I should talk to.
Any suggession would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance and God bless you, your family and your business!
Warm wishes,
Thanh Nguyen

As a lender or investor, the first item I would want to see is a Business and Marketing Plan.
*You expect to *open this business in downtown Reno in July. Have you done a cash flow??
How long will you need the funds?? and How will you pay me back??
Also you can contact SCORE. SCORE is FREE both in person and online.

tapiocaThouse welcome to the Community! I also have dreams of opening a bubble tea shop. Glad you joined. I've been to NV many times before, and there is a growing Asian community, so I bet your shop will do good business. My advice for getting started is start easy on the kitchen at first. So, don't fry for example, but prepare the sandwiches on site and make the smoothies - - this keeps costs down for the kitchen. When you start generating more business...and reaping the profits, then expand your menu and kitchen. I've seen many successful bubble tea shops that are literally an open window/stand practically - with lines winding around the corner. Also, from a cost perspective are you going with powder or real fruit? Go with real fruit where you can, nothing beats quality drinks. Or maybe do a combo to keep the costs down. Good luck!

Dear Metrogal,
Thanks for the tip. Yes I have been working on this business plan for almost a year. I finally found the right location for it ( next to the university and right by the entrance of tdowntown.). I use real fruit for my drinks.
Everything seems going well now .
There is a bubble tea in Sparks ( the city next to Reno) and they has always been busy. People from reno would drive 40 mins just for a drink and some Vietname sandwiches.
Thanks again for the tip and good luck with your business !

Fresh fruit! Great. And if the tapioca is fresh, then you will have people driving from all over to your place. Right by a university? Perfect. Sounds like you have found the perfect location. Vietnamese sandwiches (yummy!) are also becoming more mainstream, so I think as long as you keep costs down, prices right, and have a clean place - business will be good. I know you are inquiring about a loan, but if I could just throw in one tip - -keep the place looking spotless and modern/ Not sure about Reno, but the ones in my area - are busy, but not very clean looking. So, I was thinking that to differenciate my shop - I would have a trendy and clean Bubble Tea shop with wifi. Good luck. After you open up your shop, you'll have to post again and let us know how you are doing with your business.

Hi Thanh,

My name is Gloria and I reside in Orange County, California. I have been doing alot of research on financing a start-up business as I anticipate opening a shop similar to your tapica tea house this October 2008. Would you like to network with me to share ideas and helpful tips? You can email me at gloria_ngoc@yahoo.com where I can share my personal cell number. I am not a consultant of any sort, just someone in search of networking relationships.

Good Luck,
Gloria Le

Hi. Where is your store going to be located at? Love tapioca. I visit reno alot. I own a donut shop. It is alot of work owning your own business. What kind of tapioca drinks do you carry? Tapioca is really popular in california. The economy is very slow lately. Lots of drink places is closing down. I live in Sac, Ca. and Q-cup a favorite place of mine just closed down.
