Mac Pro Hard drive option question

I hope this is an appropriate question to ask as there seems to be a great variety of expertise on this website. I am online right now on the Apple website in the process of ordering a Mac Pro. There are several "upgrade" options for me and I'm not sure it's worth it or even what it is.

I plan to order the 15" 2.4GHz Mac Pro. Also, I plan to use the laptop to edit videos and photos, etc. for leisure.

Upon checkout there is a hard drive option to add more GB for the serial ATA. It says on the website that a Serial ATA hard drive gives you more space for data and applications. Choose among several capacities at drive speeds up to 7200 rpm. It comes with 200GB Serioal ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm, and there are two options to add - - is it worth paying for? Not sure what the extra give me?

comes with: 200GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
option 1: 250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm [Add $50]
option 2: 200GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm [Add $100]

You want this one:
option 1: 250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm [Add $50]

You said the other drive on the device is 5400 rpm. The drives will only go as fast as the slowest one in the chain so there is no reason to get a 7200 rpm drive if the other one is 5400. It also has higher capacity which is ultimately more important for video editing then a modestly faster drive.

I apologize but I believe you misunderstood what he is asking. He is not looking for a secondary drive for the laptop but rather which internal hard drive he should get with his order.

obviously you are referring to a MacBook Pro not a Mac Pro because a Mac Pro is a desktop not a laptop and has many more hard drive options. As for your choice I agree with DomainDiva you chould go with the 7200rpm drive editing video (unless we are talking about low quality) should not be done with a 5400rpm drive the speed will hinder you.

Thank you for the help. Yes, my intention is for a laptop and will use it for video and photo editing. I am ordering it today! Can't wait until it arrives.
