I just started a home based Virtual Assistant Business and I am doing different things to attract clients. I have mailed packets to a few small businesses as well as to people I know. I have posted on Craigslist because it is free and my budget is very tight. Any suggestions on what else I can do?

Virtual Assistant Business, Welcome to this web site.
You are the Third "Virtual Assistant Business", that I have come across
this week. You are in L A, One in illinois and the other in Selma, N C.
I am also a SCORE Counselor. You do know about SCORE?? SCORE is FREE
SCORE suggests you develop a Business and Marketing Plan and I could help.

Bruin 1990: I'm guesing that you already have a website. I would look into posting on search engines, creating a blog on your website. I would also look at small business groups in your area that you can be a part of. You can fine these possiably from your local chamber of comerce. I would also check out Microsoft's Small Business Website (http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness) for further information about Small Businesses.

Respectfully,

Scott Johnson

The other day a friend of mine said that she wished she had a personal assistant or house manager. What does your virtual assistant business do? Is it targeted to companies - such as a virtual admin assistant or is it for the busy household? If you can, please share with us more about your business services and your rates and minimums.

Heya!!

Depending on your business structure, you may want to look into Micro Branding... The field you are in is a pretty specialized filed (right now) - the goal is to become distinct in that market so that you can generate the type of clients that you need.

Good Luck!!

You need to find the Virtual Assistant Networks that have been set up around the world to help you on your journey. Many of the networks have directory listings for their members and also help attract clients for your business. They also give you guidance on how to build your business, the services you offer and how to work with your clients. They're a great place for learning, discussing and even venting when needed.

I am a Virtual Assistant and have been running my business since March 1994. I'm based in Melbourne Australia and know VAs from all around the world.

I welcome questions and am happy to give you more information about the industry if you are interested.

You'll find me at www.vadirectory.net - it's linked in my profile here as well.

I founded the industry in Australia and have watched the industry grow worldwide. Been a great journey and one that I've enjoyed. It's allowed me to bring up 5 daughters at home whilst running a fulltime business doing things I enjoy doing.

Regards,

Kathie
