I've been on LinkedIN for some time now and find it a very good place to find connections.

I even had an employee that I hired in 1986 connect with me via LinkedIN.

Yes I am on LinkedIn. I added the group. It says the add request is pending. How long are you expecting approvals to turn around?

Will there be other cross site options with other sites or with including our information on other sites on this site?

Yes, after you opt in to join the SBOC group in LinkedIn, it's standard procedure that the request goes to the group admin for approval. We are planning for a 24 hour turn-around.

To address your other question - Information you post on SBOC will remain only on SBOC, including your online profile on this site that you can update at any time. By joining the SBOC group on LinkedIn you will be able to see other members on LinkedIn thus further expanding your networking opportunities. Also, other LinkedIn users will see that you belong to the SBOC group, and can click on your SBOC group icon in LinkedIn and they have the option to then join us on the Small Business Online Community!

Thanks for being one of our newest members to join us in the SBOC group in LinkedIn and helping to support SBOC everywhere!

There are a lot of HR recruiters over there and the full-service membership is expensive in an environment where social networks are free, otherwise the concept is good.

I've had a LinkedIn profile for about 15 months or so. I've found it useful in reconnecting with old colleagues (and friends from college).

While I have added and been queried to add current business associates as "friends" I can't say that i've had any significant business discussions via LinkedIn.

I met with a business owner who is on Smaller Indiana. She is actively working this social network to expand her sphere of influence and let people know what she does in business. It really seems to be working for her. Online networking takes work just like face 2 face networking does. Its about building relationships.

I agree fact finder, I have found old friends across the country who went to the real USC (University of South Carolina) but no real business contacts.

No matter what it is still a great site.

I constantly use LinkedIn and find it to be incredibly useful. As Director of Social Media/Networking for our non-profit, Global Entrepreneurship Week, we have found LinkedIn to be a great community building tool.

I would love to join your group and invite you and others to join ours: http://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/54753/33A349718D48.

Best,
Kristina

I was invited to "Linked In" last year and accepted the invitation but then I just left it alone. I started to warm up to it in 2008 when 2 more friends asked me to join. Today, I have nearly 100 connections and I enjoy it very much. I wish it had been around 10 years ago; especially with the way co-workers move around with turn-over and downsizing. I think it is a great tool. I still have lots of work ahead to begin reaching out to individuals in my industry to partner with them for opportunities. I look forward to receiving my special Bank of America SBOC icon and contributing to some forum activity. Thank you!

I have found LinkedIn tobe an inredible toolfor my business. I send fifty Inmails a month to respective clients - CIOsand CFOs, with a very good response rate.
I have also used the tool to recruit high level executives and have had more success then with any other forum.
Your suucess with the tool will only be as strong as your network is. My advice is to build your network quickly to reach out further.

Yes!

Probably the most powerful aspect of Linkedin is the data base of companies and contacts. The other day, I needed a contact at a Fortune 100 firm. By using this portal, I was able to start a conversation with an individual and in turn, they directed me to the right person in their firm. This type of introduction was so valuable (and credible).
