I was wondering if we should propose a bartering section for this forum? I have always been interested in the concept. I would be willing to participate.

What are your thoughts on bartering or having a bartering section?

I agree. Barter is great. Barter is a type of trade in which goods or services are exchanged for
other goods and/or services.
For example, I am a Quickbooks consultant and would barter my services for travel, vacation,
valentine's presents, electrical or plumbing services, etc

Is there a bartering site you would recommend?

Have you tried google??
Barter clubs, also known as trade exchanges. Barter clubs
are like banks, where members get credit for goods or services they
provide. You can accumulate credits until you've got enough to pay for
something you need from another member. You can find out what other
members are offering through the club's website or newsletter.

Let's say you are an accountant. You could provide income tax advice
and bookkeeping services to members of your club and put the barter
dollars you earn in your barter club account. You can use them to buy a
weekend away, office equipment or printing services -- any goods and
services provided by the other members of the club.
Typically, there is an annual fee plus a commission of about 7.5 percent of the
cash value of each transaction.

Yes, I did google it. There are so many out there.

I noticed in your profile that you deal with bartering, I was wondering if you had found any site to me more helpful.

I've been bartering informally for the last few years but I never could figure out which sites I could trust.

Iwrite, I'm very interested -- enough so that a few of us explored the possibility in December. Based on our findings, I provided funding for a project team that is now creating the technical design for a web-based barter marketplace (as well as a few other desirable functions that are beyond the capability of this site) that could be integrated into or serve as modular extensions of the SBOC. I can understand why BoA might not want to take on anything more involved than what this is already, so a couple of alternative models for implementation are also being developed. I expect proposals and decisions to be made in about a month, and will keep you posted. Nice to know someone else was thinking this would be a good idea!

Cool. I can't wait to see where it goes. A lot of people are posting about things they need not realizing that they don't have to pay cash for it. Small businesses should be all about bartering!

Thanks

Michael, as far as I am concerned everyone is welcome. Apparently, this subject has been covered and there is something in the works. I asked because it is a great way to do business. I'm staying tuned for more information myself.

Welcome to the forum.
