Does anyone have any tips for finding a good contract lawyer. I was thinking about forming a partnership and I will need a good lawyer to help with the business contract. Where should I look? Thanks.

Try talking with businesses like yours that you think are well-run about who they use. Many industries have specific legal issues (such as intellectual property, warranty terms, franchise agreements, etc.) that a lawyer well-versed in that industry would know about. Find out what work a prospective attorney has done in your field, and don't be afraid to ask about particular issues and to talk with one or two client references. Industry conferences and forums are good places to look for lawyers knowledgable about your field; also look for articles he/she has published that deal with important issues companies like yours are facing. Good attorneys have an unmistakable business sense as well as legal knowledge. Remember that you're hiring a specialist and a long-term partner.

Try Pre-paid legal and your local bar referral service. That's how folks find me a great deal of the time.

A good lawyer is not one who just look on the external aspects but throws himself into it.
