We get cedar storms down here -- like clockwork, on the first day of winter, the cedar pollen count jumps off the chart and half the population seems to be walking around with sinus problems for the next month. (Okay, that's not terribly valuable information unless you're coming to Austin soon and suffer from allergies, but I'm not sure it's any less valuable than the alleged pine tree.)

We've got a tree here, the dogwood I believe, that has white fluffy seeds and it can look like the ground is covered in snow when it releases it seeds. Again not very valuable info but interesting perhaps. :)

That tree is at the Washington D.C. park, close to the Amtrak station. Protected tree.
