Exceptional business assembling replica Shelby Cobras needs start up capital

Good morning,

I am looking for start up capital to start a company that assembles replica Shelby Cobras and other classic cars found at www.lonestarclassics.com. These cars sell extremely well at a good profit and take between 1-2 weeks to assemble. I have the expertise to assemble having worked in assembly in the past and I have an extremely meticulous nature, ensuring that the work is done to an exceptionally high standard.

Unfortunately, I am unlikely to be aproved for a conventional loan because my credit rating is not good enough and I do not have a house to secure the loan with. Can anyone offer suggestions for alternative finacing options?

I would even consider a silent partner and profit share arrangement.

Tell me more. Tell me about yourself like education and work experiences??
Where are you and the company located?? When do you plan on starting??
Do you have a Business and Marketing Plan??

The first thing you need is a business plan. You have to show how this business will make money and what your market demographic is. Search the web for a BP outline, download it and then make a three ring binder wtih each section being a topic on the Bplan. Start writing.

Identify exactly what you need the captial for: Space, tooling, marketing & sales.

Do you have a waiting list and deposits for these cars?

Are you incorporated? Do you have your EIN, bank account and other business neccessities yet? You have to build a foundation for the business entity before you will be eligible for any investment funds, private or otherwise.

Hi, Entrepreneur (wow, I can't believe that username was actually available). Just to be sure I understand the business you are proposing -- you are basically a very knowledgeable "car guy" who would buy a kit, and then complete all the assembly necessary to deliver a finished, inspection/tag-ready replica to a consumer buyer (so instead of the buyer ordering the kit and doing the project himself over many weeks, he'd pick it out and you'd order it, assemble it, and deliver it in a week or two). Is that correct?

(P.S. I wasn't implying any gender bias with the male pronouns -- in fact, it seems like there's the potential for a strong female customer base.)

Good morning LUCKIEST,

There is a lot to tell, but preferably not in such a public forum. I have yet to form the company, but I plan to work out of Oregon. I am in the US Virgin Islands at the moment, but all of my work experience is in Australia. I have been working on cars for 20 years and also built furniture for 20 years. I am a trained cabinet maker, manufacturing kitchens and vanities and I have also done a lot of renovation work, car body work and car spray painting and I am an expert in all tools. Assembling cars in kit form is incredibly easy for me, even the spray painting involved. I am also a very good trainer and can build a team as the business grows.

I do not have a business and marketing plan. This is not an area I know anything about, which is why I have sought advice from this forum. I have the skills to assemble, but not really the business skills, which is where a partner would be very useful. I can learn the skills if needed because I am very intelligent and pick things up very quickly. I even have a university degree in science. How do I contact you to discuss this further? Can I send you my email address on this forum?

I will start as soon as I have the start up capital. It is best to purchase one kit at a time, assemble and paint it and then sell it. Work area and tools need to be sorted, the main cost of tools being a top quality spray kit and possibly a drying oven, but it can work without it. A clean spraying area is the most essential part.

Hi,

Yes, you have it exactly. And you are right about the potential for a strong female customer base. These cars sell very well and there are not many with a feminine look.

Red works very well. I have to spray them, so any color you like really. I can pinstripe them, do combination colors, logos whatever you want.
