I would encourage you choose a business that fits your lifestyle. If you are considering a MLM business think about what you would enjoy doing. You will be more successful if you could find a company that offers a real and valuable product that you can enjoy. When those factors exist you become a natural marketer of the product or service. That's what makes MLM business model a good alternative for those who are looking for low cost opportunities with the potential for high returns over the long term. I would encourage you to visit www.883390.worldventures.com and see what you think.

Lots of young entrepeneurs start businesses out of their homes, but having an idea is essential. Obviously you could do something web-based. I would strongly advise that you work for start-up corporation before attempting to get one going yourself, though, you'll learn tons about all the financial, legal, and internal operations for free. Anyway, that's what I did...:)

Hello minalegend,

I'm a newbie to this small business community as you can see from my sign up date. Anyway, I read

your thread and a couple of things stuck out to me: One; You'd like to start a home based business.

That's great, there's an explosion of home based businesses started by individuals that have realized the

numerous tax benefits and opportunities already placed around them. Two; You're a student

who doesn't have time to waste stocking inventory that you and your family and friends may or may not

use. Minalegend, there is a perfect opportunity for you to start a home based business today for a one

time investment of $500.

A website-based business, such as a blog or forum is a great way to tele-commute from your own home.

If you like writing, your own blog driven website would be a great option.

These days you can start a lot of home based businesses for very little money.

But beware as previous posters have said, check it out. Most of the MLM or network marketing companies have a very few number of highly successful people, get the numbers.

Also, one piece of advise I've given many, many times over my business career.....don't take advice from someone who hasn't done it.

Example: someone says that they can sign you up for something or other and that you can make $1000 a month. Ask them if they are making $1000 a month. If not, can they get you in contact with 3 people whom are making $1000 a month. This is basically doing your "due diligence".

Of course, the less it costs to get in, the less due diligence I would do but still get references because you don't want to waste a lot of time.

Also, generally, to do well it will take time and money. A home based business where there is less money involved usually takes a whole lot of time to make anything, so if that doesn't fit in your lifestyle, then don't go there.

You stated what you are good at and what you are doing now, but what do you like to do.

I have always had people start by making a list of what they like to do and then see if we can create a business around it. I find that people work longer and harder at things they are passionate about. And then work seems like play.

You are set for life! Keep your money, use it to feed the kids or something.

Here's what you're going to do, and everything I'm going to show you right now is free.

#1: Blogger.com or Squidoo.com
Go there, learn what they are (after you read this)

Cost for these: Zip

#2: Affiliate programs.
This is where you promote other peoples stuff via your Blog or lens
Best places to go... ClickBank.com and/or PayDotCom.com

Cost for both: Zip.

#3: SEO/SMO = Search Engine Optimization/Social Media Optimization
There are sites out there now getting over 2x the monthly page views as Google. Use them

#4: Pick your product base around something you already know a bit about. That way you'll have a leg up.

#5: Market this product in 1 of 3 ways -

Bashing = Choose 2 products that are almost exactly alike. Take the one that pays you less and pretty much demonize it. Then recomend the other product.

Praising = Write a positive review of the product and tell everyone why it's so hot

Value Added = Create an easy, free download thing which will compliment the product you promote. Tell people they can have it when they buy from you. Provide them with your email. When you get their reciept, you send them the download link.

#6: Only optimize your lens/blog for the name of the product. That way you'll drive some of the most targeted traffic possible.

Bottom line:

Save your $1000. Today you no loner need cash to launch a massive business.

Yes, I am going to suggest a network marketing company also. If you have ready anything by Robert Kiwasaki, that is what he said he would do if he had to start all over again. Or was that Donald Trump. Anyway, there are lots of companies you can start up for under $1,000. Just depends on what your passion is. I started out in Arbonne three years ago and started a gourmet scented candle business a year ago. Check out www.LindseysCandleShop.com or email me at tdferrari@bellsouth.net.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do!
