Not a typical post for this forum, but an important one never-the-less.

I have found that since I stopped working for others and went out on my own, that my health is not the same anymore.
I have put on a few extra pounds, and find myself getting winded much faster than I used to.

In order to counter this, I have put myself on a daily exercise plan.
I now jog every morning before going into the office. I eat healthier during the day and then finish up by exercising in the evening.

Has anybody else noticed this problem in themselves?
How are you countering it?

Same as you.

Working at home, I find myself working all the time - since the computer is right there. My wife and I exercise for 1 hour daily, but most importantly we break the work day into multiple segments. Get up, work, have breakfast, work, excercise, work, have lunch, rest, work, take a break (watch TV/movie), work...

We practically NEVER feel tired.

I think an important thing you stated here is that you have an exercise partner.
Someone is there pushing you to get moving.
Great response, really appreciate your input.

I swim regularly (unless I'm working in a location without a suitable pool). A few years ago, I really cut back on Dr Pepper (I've always preferred soft drinks to coffee in the morning) and increased the amount of water I drink. That's about it.

The only health/performance related things I've noticed in recent years are I need more sleep than I used to (though still less than the average person, I guess), and I need glasses to read.

Ahh...swimming is a form of excercise I have not thought of.
That is an excellent idea Lighthouse. I really appreciate that input.
I am looking into local gyms and now I may look into a local YMCA with a pool.

CC08, It is the dreaded refrigerator. Yes I exercise a lot. Long walks, Tennis, Bike rides, the gym, BUT
working from home, every time I get up and walk around the house, I HAVE TO OPEN the refrigerator
and look for a snack. The kids even put a toy alarm that rings every time I open the frig.
Then there is the cookie drawer. LUCKIEST

Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit and cup of green tea (hot)

Jogging is good.

ALSO: Be sure to take nutritional suplements appropriate to your age. Over 40? Get that CoQ10 enzyme and Omega 3 fatty acids, and take a liquid vitamin for better absorption preferably one with an aloe vera base.

Get your back adjusted about every 4-6 weeks. Trust me.

Invest in a nice chair.

Have a web designer build you a website that utilizes Search Engine Optimization technologies, CSS design, and other up-to-date technologies.

A professionally built website brings customers to you, rather then doing the searching or waiting for the call.

This allows you more down time to do the things you love.

Imagine having to make less calls because a potential client is sold on your product and calls you.

Imagine cold sales calls/ meetings being quite warm, because of your established Web Presence.

This free time enables you to walk an extra mile, as your business builds itself!

Sounds like a good idea as well that I did not think of.
I should start looking into vitamins and supplements.

Thanks DD.

Haha, sounds like the kids have you under control with the snacking.
Great story LUCKIEST, really appreciate the feedback.
How long should you push yourself jogging?

I keep in shape by taking my mouse for a walk across my desktop.

Also have been known to do a push up or two with my fingers on the keyboard.
