At any time that you are dealing with clients or portraying an image, I am wearing a business suit.
I am showing that I am all about the business I am in and am going to approach it in such, a professional manner.

Amy, The benefit of a home office is that it is in my home.
If I want to wear my bathing suit, that is ok, P J's are also ok,
I watch two and 1/2 men and Martin is mostly in shorts and that is ok.
When clients are expected my dress code changes as well as my employees,
BUT NOBODY gets really dressed at my home office.

I wear normal everyday clothing. I only stay in might clothes if I'm under the weather and not planning to go out that day. Otherwise, it's best to dress and be ready to come and go. Since my job is mostly writing and researching online, I don't meet with clients or customers. All of my communication is either through email, phone, or IM.

It is a good idea to at least dress business casual at all times not knowing what you may encounter.

I'm strictly "suit and tie" at client sites, or a logo rugby shirt if I'm facilitating an off-site retreat. When I'm working from home, my chosen attire is mainly a function of whatever else I have planned for the day.

I can see this is a discussion I partly started.

This is my truthful answer. I'm tired of looking like I come from the streets. I lived on the streets and went to college on the streets. I earned a lot of respect from the men and woman in business suits when I dressed nice and packed my books around.

Currently I wear my regular clothes and only dress nice on special ocassions. I want to dress nice every day, even if I am just sitting at home working from home. I don't live like that anymore. I have a small house now on my grandparents farm. I want to dress like my surroundings.

I didn't mean to sound like a hypocrit either; all of the gift cash I recieved from christmas is going to a new wardrobe. It's money that is considered spent, I am simply waiting for the day we go shopping as a family.

Home office...power jammies until noon.

Messy tech office at the airport...jeans and nice shirt..MBT shoes....

Messy tech ofice at the airport with customers coming in...shark suit.

Working in a bathrobe reminds me too much of the Johnny Depp character in Secret Window.
