Can you set up an LLC and use your domain name for DBA?

I will be operating an e-commerce retail store and wanted to set up an LLC with a generic name (in case I decide to open additional stores). I originally thought I would have to use the LLC name on the bottom of the website and let customers know that their bill would reflect the LLC name and not the domain name. I know I could have used a DBA but basically wanted to save money by not giving the state additional fees.

I thought by using the generic named LLC, this might create confusion with the customers when they received their bills and maybe if they didn't remember the LLC name they would therefore dispute the charge with the credit card, which would then cause me to incur a chargeback fee.

After speaking with a merchant account provider, I was told that I could use the domain name as the DBA (and would not have to legally set up a DBA with the state). He said the customer's credit card statement would reflect the domain name (DBA) but the bank would see it as my LLC name. He said many of his customers have their LLC with many DBA's under it but the DBA is not something they obtained from the state. The retailers just tell this merchant account provider what the DBA (or domain name) will be.

Has anyone else come across this scenerio? Somehow it seems too good to be true but it would save a few dollars and with initial startup costs this could certainly help.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Starting my Website

I am looking forward to starting an online business using the four hour work week model, I have done all the due diligance I can think of and have now decided to develope a website and test the waters. The problem I am having is I do not know if it is worth the time to learn to build a site and do this myself, (I have access to dreamweaver cs4 through a contact of mine) or should I just bite the bullet and pay for my website to be developed. I would need to find someone who is familar with SEO so I couldn't grab just anyone to build this thing. Any suggestions? does anyone have an idea on how much this would cost?

I also need to know how hard it is to generate 10,000 visitors a month, my product is a language learning system that targets the student niche. Is 10,000 a good standard or is it going to be something very difficult to attain?

HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR WEBSITE OR BLOG.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS
1.After creating and posting your blog, you need
to keep an update your online journal or diary because if someone
visits your blog and discovers that the last post was four weeks ago,
they will probably be disappointed.

2.Keep your readers
interested and coming back for more everyday by updating your writing,
participate in online communities, understand your readers and include
keywords. Attracting traffic to a blog or a web site is challenging
enough.

3.When you start to see visitors coming to read your
blog, be sure that they feel comfortable to stick around and you must
give your readers a reason to visit your site.

4. Here are the
tips on promoting your blog. A quality Content- Interesting content
will keep your readership returning. Update your blog regularly.
Googlebot, which is Google's web-crawling robot, loves content. The
more you update your blog, the more frequent the search engine spiders
will return to it.

5.Take part in forums that are related to
blog- Ask other bloggers for their opinion on your blog and take their
suggestions to heart.
Website Analytics, Your Website and Your Business

How many times have you looked at your website and wondered just how
effective it is? Have you ever wondered where the people that visit
are coming from or what search terms they used to get there? If you
have wondered these things, you are reading the right post because we
are going to look into the awesome world of website analytics and go
over some of the key info you can gather using them.

Why do analytics matter?

Through analyzing website analytics, you can gather info about the
activities of your website visitors which you can then compare to your
marketing actions, giving you a big picture view of what is going on
with your website and how effective it and your marketing is. Combine
this info with information that you collect regularly about your
clients and you can start to understand why your visitors do what they
do when they go to your website, be it buying, calling or leaving. As
in any situation, the more you know, the better the decisions you can
make.

What can analytics track?

In this post, I will be talking about Google Analytics because that
is what I use for me and my clients and that is what I am most familiar
with. Using Google Analytics you can track over time:

Visitor Trends

# of visits

Referring websites (where they came from)

Search terms used to find your site

Location (down to the city) of visitors

Visitor operationg systems and browsers

Visitor connection speeds

Popular pages

Visitor time on the site, etc.

The list above is actually only a fraction of the information you
collect on your visitors through analytics. The beauty of it is that
you can make changes to the site and compare the analytics results to
the results before the changes were made, giving you a way to trend
your visitor activities and really get a great idea of the
effectiveness of those changes.

Where Can I Get Analytics?

Here is the best part of all of this, website analytics are free. Go to Google.com/analytics,
and sign up for them. From there, copy and past the tracking code into
the bottom of your website pages (right before your ending
</body> tag), check your Google Analytics page to make sure it is
working and you are good to go. There are a slew of other website
analytics companies that you can get your analytics from, so don't
think Google Analytics are the only ones. I am most familiar with
Google Analytics so that's what I wrote on.

Analyzing the Analytics

Information is powerful and the more you have, the more effective your
Florida sales tax for web business

I am in Florida and I am in the process of setting up a web cart for
a new online business.

I have spoken with the Florida Dept of Revenue and they say that I
must collect sales tax for all sales to parties in Florida. Also, that
sales taxes vary county by county and this must be taken into account
for each such transaction.

I wonder how businesses are handling this in their online shopping carts?
One solution is to include in the drop down menu of US states (as a buyer
is indicating their address) to include the list of all Florida counties, e.g.,
FLORIDA-PASCO, FLORIDA-PINELLAS, FLORIDA-POLK, etc. and
calculate the sales tax based on the the tax rate for each county.
This would work but it is rather clunky and obviously makes for a very long
list of states in the drop down menu.

How are other people handling this? Is there a better way?

Also, some products I may sell are digital files that can be downloaded
from the web site and others are physical items--is there a difference in
taxation for these? Are downloadable products (like an e-book) taxed?

Thanks,
