Hi All

I am interested to see how SMB's are using online technology in their business and do they see a benefit over online software compared to traditional desktop versions? What factors would drive you to choose online software?

Many Thanks

Thinking of getting the iPhone

There is so much hype around the iPhone that I am considering purchasing. I like it because it's like a mini computer, but wanted to know if anyone here has one and is happy with it as a phone? How does it perform with sound quality, speaker phone, etc.? Also my collegue had a Samsung phone (forgot which model) and it was too good as a phone, picking up all sounds even when he was crumbling a gum wrapper ...so I don't want it picking up everything either. If anyone has an iPhone and can comment on how it works as a phone, please respond with feedback.

Hi!
My name is Martin, I work for a company in Norway that sells and supports payment terminals and point of sale systems.
The last 7 years, we have mainly sold Casio cash-registers, but we are now looking for good Windows based pos software that we can become a reseller for.
We have many years of experience with cash-registers and computer based systems.

Does anybode in here know of any company that have good software and are seeking resellers?

Thank in advance.

Best regards,
We just started using Smartsuite, instead of MS office, since it's free. It is software from IBM that has a word processor and spreadsheet in it.

It seems to be compatible with the Microsoft files (so far). Is anyone else using it, and have you had any issues?

High Costs of POS Maintenance...

TransActPOS is asking hardware and retail stores nationwide if everyone is seeing issues with High Monthly Maintenance fees. We have converted many many stores that are tired of paying too much money and getting not enough support and system in return.

We are just wanting to get the opinions of store owners. Currently on a 3-user system for 24-7 response tech and maintenace we are running around $90-100 and we have seen anywhere between $400-$1300 for other Gold Level and Level 1 POS systems.
Nokia's Booklet 3G or Apple's iPhone...or Neither?

AT&T, now supporting millions of subsidized, potentially revenue-draining Apple iPhone users, is reportedly planning to announce subsidy and support of the new Nokia Booklet 3G netbook running Microsoft Windows 7 when that software finally officially appears later this month. The new netbook, sporting an aluminum body and 10-inch screen, will reportedly be priced at $300 with an AT&T contract, even though it has a retail price of $600. And of course, there are persistent rumors of an Apple tablet computer, with a netbook-sized screen and similar pricing. So how is your company preparing to support these and other options, and which ones will likely be part of your users' business toolkits during the next 9-12 months -- if any?

Worry-free business resources- Hosted Server Solutions

What information and computer resources are critical to your business? Think about it. Is it whether you use Mac or Windows? Is it the version of your operating system? Probably not. So why should your business carry the burden of owning or maintaining file servers?

Consider Virtual Office Systems aka VOS™ and get the resources that drive your business at a low, predictable monthly rate that will make your Accountant's jaw drop!

The computer resources that are critical to most businesses are reliable data file storage, electronic communication, and up-to-date business software. Many businesses struggle with old software, non-standard "open" or "free" programs that interfere with productivity. While they are fumbling around trying to convert a document into their google-app, their competition has already delivered a stunning proposal in the latest version of Microsoft® Office. Having the most efficient business tools is no longer a big budget item. VOS™ provides fully-managed, current software and makes them available securely over the Internet.

Reliable data file storage is more than just backup. If your computer and backup are gone (Katrina) then what? VOS™ stores your business programs and data in multiple locations at geographically separated data centers. It's what large corporations do; now you can have it too!

What does wireless synchronization to Blackberry, iPhone and Smartphones mean in the world of business today? It can often mean the difference between winning a deal or learning that you lost it well after the deal was done. Two fundamental principles to consider. Responsiveness and perception. If your email address is aol, yahoo or anything other than your business name- what does that tell a prospect? When the bottom of your email signature includes advertisement from your "free" service provider, or you have to call a prospect to resend a message because it "disappeared", does that build trust and confidence? Real time notification of email via mobile phones sends a message to clients and prospect, "I'm here when you need me." VOS™ is there providing the resources to make it a reality for your business.

Do you know enough about VOS™? How much does your competition know? There's a reason they say "time is money", and this is something you really should check out.
