Thanks for the minor security tip. I'll probably to use PayPal as a second payment option. Do you have a piece of the sample code somewhere you used - minus the merchant info of course? Maybe I just need to see a working example to see if I'm missing something.

Authorize.Net offers two ways to integrate their payment gateway services into a merchant's Web site.

The first method is called the Simple Integration Method (SIM). As the
name implies this method is the less technically complex of the two.
Using the Simple Integration Method a merchant would send the customer
to the Authorize.Net website where a secure order page will capture
their transaction information. Upon completion of the transaction the
customer is returned to the merchant's Web site. This method is usually
preferred by small businesses who do not have the technical
capabilities to do a more advanced integration.

The second method of integration is called the Advanced Integration
Method (AIM). This method of integration is more complex but more
powerful then the Simple Integration Method. The Advanced Integration
Method utilizes the Authorize.Net API to process a transaction without the customer leaving the merchant's Web site.
The customer is unaware of how the transaction is processed and the
checkout process is seamless to them. This method is usually chosen by
larger businesses that wish to present their Web site in a professional manner.

i am in the process of setting something like this up for a client right now and used the sample SIM code from authorize.net and didnt have much of a problem. I made sure the simdata.php file is named something different to make it a (very little) bit more secure, but other than that there werent many changes i needed to make either. The key is to make the transaction key through a user, not your main account and to pass the veriables to the correct authorize.net subdomain (test or secure). If i remember right the test setup was a bit clunky and gave some odd problems but once i used the live code it seemed to work fine.

the other option is to just use paypal for this kind of simple payment needs. You can make their forms do just about anything you need it to. Its unfortunate that clients would have to use their paypal account but just about anyone online nowdays has one and i have found its not that cumbersome

Does anyone know where to find a simple SIM (simple integration method) PHP script and a form to use on my website? Authorize.net's SIM guide isn't very clear, their sample code doesn't work, and I haven't found any good step-by-step guides for a service merchant type business setup.

What I want is an on-site payment form to connect to my gateway. Sounds simple enough, but I need to allow for variable payments to be made monthly by clients after I invoice them, as well as offer fixed priced services. I haven't found a cart script that allows for service billing. Basically, the form I need must be able to allow the user to type in any $ amount, and/or pick a fixed price service item too. I'm looking at PHPAUTHNET SIM script for $40*.* The money isn't an issue either. What are your thoughts? Anyone been through this process themselves? I realize using the virtual terminal will work for this but I'm trying to automate this as much as possible.
