I am a huge fan of the Miva Merchant 5 software. Any number of of hosting companies will license this software to you for about $45/month including hosting. The guy I use for my Miva site is Dam Whims at LAservers.com. He'll do the work for you cost effectively. Go to templatemonster.com and pick out a look for your website before shopping ecommerce platforms.

Lastly, Miva is really powerful and easy to administer. Be careful not to get bit in the butt by having something you can't administer once the web development is done!

Brainbag, Remeber that when you put a site up on Ebay, all the customer remembers is that they bought it on Ebay not from Brainbag. Also, Ebay is for people who are buying just based on price. They have Walmart mentality and want it for the lowest price. Not a good way to make money unless your cost is real low.

Setting up your own site is creating your own brand. so when someone buys from you, they refer back to your website. Not to Ebay.

Creating your own brand is what you are selling, not product. You make sales by selling product but your goal should be to sell yourself. That way people will trust you and want to only buy from you.

Hi Justabitome,
Thanks for your advise.I will be careful about that aswell.Like i said in my previous post.I have been swindled by a company called storesonline before. They promised heaven and earth with their programme. But after i purchased the programme and decide to do it myslef it was much more difficult than i taught and i checked this company's out on ripoff.com they received alot of bad remarks. After doing so i called them and told them off even now they are still calling my wife through their collection agency.I admit it was my fault for not actually checking them out before plunging into the deals.

I think i will just start on ebay and from there i will see what i can do.

Brainbag, Another suggestion. Visit SCORE online (it is FREE) and look for someone that
can help you build an e-commerce website.
SCORE helps counsel people in business FREE. They want you to succeed.
Good luck, LUCKIEST

While it's great to come on websites such as this to ask for website assistance it's even better to ask local businesses. Check references, look at portfolios and learn a bit about running and creating a website before you sign any contracts.

Ask opinions from co-workers and friends. See what they think of certain portfolios. Contact the customer's said web designer has worked with. Never pay upfront.

There is such a wealth of individuals out there that claim to be web designers. I'd be more apt to look for a company that not only has web designer's but programmers and marketing team.

OSCommerce is a great small biz software to use if your going to do it yourself. But it greatly depends on user knowledge. Its hardly a program that's difficult to setup but only allows certain customizations and most OSCommerce sites all look the same. I'd stay away from programs such as that.

Good luck!
