Number one, one is never too old to learn something new. This is a great place to find new info and refreshing points of view. I'm 60 and I happy to say I still learn something new almost every day.

Number two: Helping others is a worthwhile endeaver. Something to be said for the value and reward
of feeling good about oneself at the end of the day. Plus, making friends and contacts never hurts--you never know when one of them might need your services one day, or vice-versa.

Number three: This might sound a little selfish, but I'll say it anyway. I've been in the merchant services (credit card processing) biz for many years. This is an industry with a terrible reputation earned as a result of a few very rotten apples ruining the entire barrel. Yet, many of these rotten apples continue to remain in business for the long term because generation after generation of new naive first-time entrepreneurs continue to fall for their scams. So I figure if I can provide these fledgling businesspeople with a little accurate truthful information to counter some of the baloney they might be hearing elsewhere, in some small way that is bound to benefit my industry and my company somewhere somehow along the line.
To get a longer reach.

I can only help (for fee or for free) the people I can engage. I love what I do, but most of my clients don't need to utilize the a big part of my skill set. Of those whose could benefit, many ignore altogether what I say because they don't like the answer or don't want to be bothered. As a matter of professionalism, I have to have the same conversations with those people year after year. It gets old sometimes. Here the people who appreciate the thought often express their gratitude in some fashion. But more importantly, those who ignore what I say are out of sight, out of mind. I only have upside, no downside.

In addition, there are plenty of people around here who are smarter than or have different perspectives or different experiences. As much as I may be a chronic poster, I glean just as much useful info from threads I don't post to.

I'm learning something new every day! Also, after time passes...you notice trends and re-occuring questions from the audience. It seems like a very supportive forum and there are many experts in different fields that help make it a great community.

I am so glad that I read this one! My husband works two other printing jobs, and works for our company also. Back in the 90's, he cold called only. Tried the yellow pages, nothing, tried flyer mailings, nothing, so He is the product of "Cold Calling". I cannot make people buy from me, but so far he does not understand joining this community, and so far, I have nothing to tell him, because we still have a slow business. My advice to him, is to keep getting our name out there, and join these communities, and blogs, and so on! We joined a networking group last year, and I was the highest referral person, but then the membership got down to 6, and we could not justify spending $400.00 per year, with only 6 people in the meeting. I am always looking for answers, and everyday that I read this site, gives me more and more confidence and I do need to be motivated and not get discouraged! There are some very smart, members of this community, and I am so glad that I can express my feelings, and tell everyone about our business! Thank you, and thank you to everyone out there helping me!!!!!!!!!!

It caught my attention when Bank of America advertised in on my personal home page. I checked it out and it appears to be of a much higher caliber than other forums.

I have come back today because I've found some people I can help and some interesting posts. I also find out very interested things from the questions posed.

I like helping people and since I have 23 years experience in so many financial and business fields, I might be able to help a few. That is the same reason I joined CEO Space. Also, being retired wasn't all it was cracked up to be for me.
The reasons that I joined this community is for another avenue of exposure for my business, listen to the opinions of others from many different locations, and hopefully help someone else with the experiences that I have been through. Meeting a group of people that you can discuss topics with can only be of help to yourself and others.

A community forums like this brings out innovative people who have different idea and think
independently. We all try to answer questions to our level of expertise.
Some of the Members "think outside the box" and others add humor to their answers.
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

Have a blast in 2008.

If you want to "expose" yourself...
Post information about your venture in the "Business Classifieds."
Links are not often looked at if there is not a description with them.
