If you are going to have multiple clients, then you want to go with a QuickBooks Pro or even Accountants Premier edition. You can go here and receive 20% off these or any other versions.
amspcs,

I thank you for your advise. I had QB in mind but didn't know if this was the choice to go with. Now, I'm feeling more confident.
Your two most obvious choices would be QuickBooks or Peachtree. My understanding is that QB is
an 'everyman's' program whereas Peachtree requires a more sophisticated understanding of accounting.
We have used QB Pro successfully for years. The only downside is: Every 3-4 years they require you to upgrade.

QB offers payroll services. But so does Bank of America (if you bank there), and we find that is much less expensive. We use the B of A payroll services. Sign up as www.BankofAmerica.com

I'm hearing that Staples is having an unbelievable sale on QuickBooks Pro this week. Don't know if it's still on and/or available where you live. If you decide the QB route, check out Staples.com ASAP.
