I googled 'How to write a business plan' and came up with a great outline. I printed it out and made a three ring binder with each of the BP sections. then I started to write...each section. Finally I put it all together and then gave it to several business types and let them have at it to fine tune it for me. I also used an accounting professional for the financials, he was able to do it quickly once the cost structure was developed.

go to bplans.com and the others posted previously. bplans.com is a great website and it helped me so much.

The SBA at http://www.sba.gov/smallbusinessplanner/index.html has all of the info.

I agree with the previous response, use SCORE as much as possible. I did, and avoided making some costly erroneous decisions. After you write the biz plan, I would make an appointment with a SCORE counselor. They are free of charge.

I would use Palo Alto's Biz Plan Pro to write it. But as I have quoted Guy Kawasaki before in his outstanding book - The Art of the Start (a great book for you to read) - quit planning and go do it.

The best place for getting info on a business plan is SCORE.
Go to SCORE on line. They have a lot of info on bus plans and more.
Libraries are also a good starting place.
