This is completely and totally correct.

For example if I put the word SEO three hundred times in a row with an H1 tag this is an obvious black hat technique.

I have a funny story about this as well.

I had wrote an article about something that was not the greatest read, but it was an article and not what is considered a black hat technique. A competitor was enfuriated that I passed write by them up to the first page, and reported it as being black hat SEO. Initially this was seen and agreed upon. After I contacted google and told them to take a more in depth at my report, they not only removed this temporary ban, but suddenly my SEO hit the roof! As well, I believe it was filed that the person making the initial complaint was someone that shoud be looked into.

Here is an even funnier one. I heard through the grapevine that the US Trademark and Patent office recieved a complaint. I can only imagine the huge amount of time the Federal Government spent investigating this one.

By this person making such a stink about me and what I was doing, only further assisted me in my efforts, as many agree with me on many levels.

Really funny how someone elses offering you an extreme amount of negativity only helps your efforts. If those that know you on a personal as well as "formal" level understand who you are as an individual, all other complaints and "drama" stirred up will only point back at the source and only further support that I must not be that bad Why else would horrible people are trying to cause me problems? You do not see anyone of good standing and moral ethics responding this way.

Exactly, if you blatantly do these things then google will put you in the sandbox for a long time, dooming your little ventures and wasting all of your effort. Let's see someone make money off of a black-listed site!

Black hat tricks will also get you banned from any search engine that finds you have done as such.

Intech: The posts are to point out the flash-bang magic tricks blackhat SEOs try to pull on you, which is what we're not out to do. Sure you can make profits like this, but it will destroy your reputation in the business world, since no one likes doing business with a weasel.

These are interesting posts, but I am not so sure I am understanding.

Please excuse my being naive, but your post Mongoose about the links to the SEO article points out how easily it would be for anyone to make a profit even if they have no knowledge of SEO.

I apologize but I am a little lost.

AllCars: Touche! Didn't mean it to sound tender or anything, I took no offense. I'm just trying to steer everyone away from the magic rabbits from hat SEO trickery people try to push on unsuspecting business owners, leaving them in the sandbox and doomed from negative press. I am very sorry to have pressed on a tender issue with my reference to ‘SEO magic tricks', I certainly did not mean any disrespect to a field of work that I have little to no understanding of. However in defense, when highly talented people execute their skills, the results can appear to be magical to those of us who are the uninformed.

AllCars: look through my profile and see my post on 'What SEO isn't', it irks me to see the word 'Magic Trick' appear. It's not a bag of tricks, it's smart content. I could hark all day that we can push you 10x the capacity of what you bring in now, but in all honesty, I really don't know. I have no clue what you're about or what your business does, it's area of service, or what kind of people your target audience is, so guessing would just be pulling randomness from the air. Sorry if i seem defensive, i don't mean to be.

Great information. I had just started a google analytics account a few days ago so I will be watching that. I get reasonable ‘unique' traffic increases every month so I am doing some things right, but being better is always good.

The goal of the site http://www.allcarcentral.com/ is as a free automotive research site, not unlike the libraries run by automotive museums. The site visitors now come from all countries.

I presently have a very good existing data base, which is being increased everyday.
