I enjoyed reading your success story. Our business is in need of a website. I'd like to try and contact you via the information you provided on your member profile, to understand if your business takes on small web projects like ours. And if not, it would be great if you can make a recommendation. Thanks again for the inspiration!

I would be happy to evaluate your project and give you an idea of the effort involved. Sometimes it's better to invest more in your web project if you can justify the Return On Investment.

This is a great article. I'm trying to PLAN my own website now and I've found that it can be quite the challenge to produce something that will keep my customers begging for more. I've written a blog about my experience as a first-time internet business owner. In this blog, I try to encourage and give advice about the issues I've run into. AKGold has touched upon many of these important issues.

This is a great story. As part of our core business is online communications, I cannot tell you how many times a new client has asked us to help them establish an online presence and when we ask what have they done to prepare for the project, the answer is usually nothing! We'll be the first to tell you that web designers are "a dime a dozen." Good designers maybe slightly harder to find, but what is the most difficult to find is a firm that can not only provide a great design, but understands the nature of business and can quickly understand your business to help you navigate the process with the focus always on what is best for your business. It is never just about the design and just having a web site. It is about what that web site can do for your business and what do you want it to do. That requires planning, just like what is stated in this great article!

Thanks for the compliments WEBillions and mpoweringu. One of the hardest parts is simply planning. I find that planning in that painful time when you simply want to get started doing things, but you don't. It's like going out for a long hike and you just can't wait to start moving your legs. Taking the time to read the map, properly pack your bag, thoroughly think through your route and then ask some people about what they think about your route makes everything feel slow. But that's great. That's the trick. To plan, plan, plan, then implement.

If only the bridge were golden, instead of red!
Honestly, though, building bridges with clients and partners is key.
My favorite point that you made was is that mediocre doesn't cut it. I am currently writing a book titled: Mediocrity Epidemic. Way too many American's have succumb to the idea that it is okay to subscribe to the status quo. Just do enough to get by. Everyone would achieve so much more if they would set goals and strive for more in their life.
I think that amazing places help to inspire a higher quality. America has in its blood amazing potential for amazing solutions and innovations. There were other plans for the Golden Gate Bridge that were not nearly as elegant, innovative or inspirational. Thankfully those plans were tossed in option of a truly inspirational solution to crossing the golden gate.
