I need Cheap Point Of Sale software
Does anyone know where I can find a excel based Point Of
Sale software? I am looking for something simple and inexpensive… if not free.
All I need it to do is inventory, Sales Invoices and a rudimentary Profit and
Loss report and anything else you guys think I might need for this startup
location. I don’t need it to write checks or process credit cards with this software.
I have looked into QuickBooks and Peach Tree, but they are expensive and over
kill for what I am looking for.

I have been looking for something for months

Any Ideas?

Poll: Do you give holiday gifts/favors to clients?

Just comparing notes: How many of your small business service providers give holiday gifts or favors to your clients?
If you do, what do you give, and how much do you spend on each client on the average?
Happy holidays to all.
getting high end customers
My business is offering cleaning services. My products are environmentally friendly. So they are a bit expensive. There is no short cut in my service. I would consider myself a very fussy and detailed person when it comes to offering my service. I think I am targeting the wrong customers mostly the seniors that
are on Social Security. They want to pay me $40.00 for my service. I am defintely not motivated by this sort of payment. How do I target high end customers that can afford to pay for my service?

Every day Google changes their picture. Yesterday they had Big Bird's legs and today there is Cookie Monster. Does anyone know why the Sesame Street characters are highlighted this week? Curious

Quickbooks Point of Sale vs. Others

I am looking for some feedback on anyone who is using Quickbooks Point of Sale.

I have used Quickbooks as my accounting software for over 10 years and I have been very happy. I will be updating to Pro 2010 in the next month or so. At the point of sale, I have just been using a cash register that I picked up at Office Depot a few years back and entering sales off the daily z report. It has definately done the job but I am looking for updating that system to better track individual sales history, inventory etc.

The business is a convenience store with the normal items, cigs, pop, food items, deli, fuel etc.

I currently track over 25 seperate catagories and am able to have catagory history but not individual.

Quickbooks seems to be the natural choice since I currently run and will continue to run that accounting software.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

What are you doing in your business to reduce expenses?

What are you doing (big or small measures) to reduce expenses?

Small - we have a small office - we've stopped our bottled water delivery service, shaving off about $50.00 a month and have also encouraged our employees to go green and bring their own cups vs. use paper.

Big - in the process of renegotiating some of our contracts with our suppliers. This is going to help us save $$.
I started reading the paper online. I went from $25.00 every 4 weeks to $0.00.
