RE: What You Need to Know About Working From Home

Good article. I find that the question of space and time at home can pose a serious challenge, almost enough to discourage it all together.

A couple of ideas to add on:
1. Work when everyone is asleep or out. If you have kids, that may become difficult. I frequently spend time writing late at night to take advantage of the quiet calm atmosphere.

I know of one writer who advocates getting up at 4 or 4:30 AM to get 2-2 1/2 hours of writing in before she sends her kids to school or does any of her errand for the day. Then, during pauses she can edit. Of course, if you need heavy interaction, this may not work.

2. Multiple computers. I had to bite the bullet and add a computer. Then, as my kids grew and learned what the PC could do, I had to add another. Now, we have 4 though 1 is in need of a hard drive. I anticipate replacing one next year. A necessary evil.

Also, though I am not full time at home yet, I have found that the work i do at home still faces all the same challenges outlined above. Don't underestimate your work or your contribution if you haven't gone full time in your own business yet.

Thanks for the article.
