I have owned and operated several small businesses. One of them was a tax preparation business. Also, I worked for H and R Block for a short time while I was living in the Los Angeles area. After moving to Sacramento during 1982, I worked for a prominent and well-respected income tax preparation and accounting firm for a number of years before I started my latest business which is a hobby oriented business. I now own and operated a coin collecting business and deal in both United States and foreign coins. I also deal in all the necessary supplies needed by Numismatists. I operate on both a retail and a wholesale base. The article is "right on target" and I learned a lot from it.

I think a lot of new businesses cannot afford to pay an accountant. When a business is small you need to cut costs as much as possible. This is a great article.

Good article but if you are a small business owner in this day and age you should not be doing your own taxes. That is what accountants get paid to do.
