While running a business, the concept of alternative cost occurs very often. These funds which are spent on back-office functions cannot be spent on core functions. Deciding to oustsource some operations, we get more time, savings and we can buy competencies which are not available in-house.
There are also comapnies known as virtual businesses which outsource all functions to external service providers.
I am glad to see an article such as this. I own Ace Business Services, Inc., an efficient and affordable payroll service, and I find that many small to mid-sized businesses do not understand the real value in outsourcing their payroll functions. Many feel that they have to be a large company or have a lot of employees before they need a payroll service. I often have to explain to them that a payroll service can benefit them even if they have just one employee. They have to make sure that they find a payroll service that can provide them with the services they need.
